Display Separate Layers From Single Source

Hi,

I'm working with an EXR that has multiple layers. I've used Seth's LayerSelect mode, which is really helpful for viewing these individual layers. Now, however, I'm hoping to set up a kind of contact sheet where I explode the EXR in to all its individual layers, and display them simultaneously in a layout. I know I could load the EXR multiple times and pick a layer for each, but I'm wondering if I can just get away with using the single EXR source. I half-suspect there is something fundamentally wrong with this approach, but I don't really know, hence I'm here asking!

Thanks,

Ray

I should also mention: I'm scripting this in Python as a package/plugin.

    Hi Ray,

If I remember correctly, Seth's package for exposing the layers in an EXR worked by loading the source multiple times and picking one layer from each load.

Now that we natively support layer navigation in the session manager, most users simply select the element layers they are interested in from the source turn-down and create a new layout or stack. Whichever they need to see. Have you tried using that feature yet? Does it not cover the usage you are going for?

    Thanks,

    Jon

    Hey Jon,

I'm running an outdated version that doesn't have layer navigation in the session manager, so I didn't know about that feature. I managed to get my hands on a pc with 3.12.17, and the layer navigation addresses what I was asking about, so, thanks for the info and sorry about the pointless question!
