license file env var

Hi guys - is there a RV config environment variable to tell RV where to look for the license.gto file ? At the moment we're placing the license file in the $RVHOME/etc folder, but would like to be able to manage them somewhere else.

is that possible?

thanks

Ben

    Hi Ben,

There are a couple things you can do to keep the license file in a non-default location:

    1. You can add a directory to the RV_SUPPORT_PATH environment variable, and put your license there, or copy the license file to any directoy that's already on the RV_SUPPORT_PATH.
    2. You can explicitly set the location of the license file from the command line with the "-lic" command-line option.

    Hope that helps!

Just noticed this old post and wanted to update for late-comers:

You can designate the license file location with an environment variable: either a per-application location (for example RV_LICENSE_FILE), or TWEAK_LICENSE_FILE which will apply to all Tweak applications (note that a license file can contain any number/kind of licenses, or in fact a pointer to a license server which can serve any number/kind of licenses).

The argument to the "-lic" command line flag (or the contents of the environment variable) must be the complete path to the license file, which can have any name (as long as the extension is ".gto").

    Cheers,

    Alan
