Stereo hot-keys mode

RV has an un-documented supplementary "stereo hotkeys" mode in which an additional set of stero-related hotkeys are active.   You enter or leave the mode with Alt-s (Option-s on Mac).  While the mode is active, these additional hotkeys are available:

a  Anaglyph Mode
d  Checked Mode
k  Scanline Mode
s  Side-by-Side Mode
p  Side-by-Side Stereo Mode
m  Mirrored Side-by-Side Stereo Mode
x  Stereo Mode Off (DEPRECATED -- use alt-s (or option-s on the mac))
h  Hardware Stereo Mode
,  Left Eye Only Stereo Mode
.  Right Eye Only Stereo Mode
<  Left Eye Only Stereo Mode
>  Right Eye Only Stereo Mode
S  Swap Eyes
o  Edit Global Relative Stereo Offset

As of RV 3.10.2, we've added these hotkeys to the list above:

z  Horizontal Squeezed Stereo Mode
v  Vertical Squeezed Stereo Mode
r  Edit Global Right-Eye Stereo Offset

As of RV 3.12.11, we added a hotkey to turn stereo off,  especially useful in Presentation Mode:

f  Turn OFF Stereo Display Mode (in Controller Window)

As of RV 3.12.15, we changed the hotkey to turn stereo off, since "f" conflicts with frame. We also added "/" to reset stereo offsets:

O  Turn OFF Stereo Display Mode (in Controller Window)
/  Reset Stereo Offsets

As of RV 3.12.19, we added a couple hotkeys to control the per-clip (per-source) stereo offset:

c  Edit Source/Clip Stereo Offset
R  Edit Source/Clip Right-Eye-Only Stereo Offset

    Thanks for posting this info!

Is it possible to launch rv through the command line and have it start in stereo mode?

    Hi Tomas,

    Yes, typically something like

    rv [ left.mov right.mov ] -stereo anaglyph

"rv -help" for more examples.   The -stereo option takes all the stereo viewing types available in the gui, and you can also use multi-view exrs or two-track movies for stereo.

    Cheers,

    Alan

    Hi Alan,

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I was wondering if there is a way to put RV into the "stereo-hotkeys" mode automatically. So, load the footage in stereo plus doing the equivalent of Alt+S at launch. From the docs/what you posted I can open rv with the footage loaded correctly but still have to press Alt+S before I can use < and > to toggle eyes.

    Thanks,

    Tomas

    Hi Tomas,

I see.  Well, as is maybe usual with RV, you can do surprising things, though not always in a "nice" way ;-)   You can activate the stereo hotkeys mode on startup like this:

    rv [ left.mov right.mov ] -eval 'pushEventTable("stereo");'

    Hope that helps,

    Alan

Are you guys considering documenting these? There also even a menu choice for side-by-side squeezed - I was surprised to find this (it would have saved me a lot of headaches a couple of months ago). I like to be able to tell my artists to RTFM if they can't remember the hotkeys...
