It's been quite a year for the Shotgun Toolkit team, and we wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who attended our final webinar of 2013 last week. We know it's a busy time of year for everyone, so for those who couldn't make it, the full recording is included with section descriptions and links, as well as a table of contents for easy access. The webinar was a great opportunity to showcase our new development in Q4 and provide a glimpse into what you can expect in the new year.
Official cut support within Shotgun is an important goal for 2014 and before we can build the necessary features, we first have to nail down what the schema should look like. Ryan presented two ideas for how Cuts could be laid out in Shotgun but we need feedback to make sure it’s the right thing to meet our clients editorial needs. Ryan is currently finishing up a full overview of the schema proposal, which includes all of the slides from the presentation for closer review and will of course be posted here soon. We know this is a big topic for many clients and look forward to carrying on the conversation!
Our Games expert, Alan focused his energy this quarter on integrating Perforce. During the webinar he talked us through both the initial implementation as well as the thinking behind the approach. We’d love to hear your thoughts on the presentation via his forum post
Stemming from the great feedback from the community in our August webinar
, we extended our Hiero integration to include some exciting new features such as collate support as well as the creation of Published Files in Shotgun for Nuke scripts and plates. For a full list of what's new, take a look at KP's forum post
and let us know what you think of the additions.
UI (re) DESIGN
Our main Toolkit apps like the Loader, Publisher, and File Manager have been out for a while now, and we felt it was time to do another design round based on what we've learned. The Loader is first up, and Manne gave us a sneak peek at how it's going to look and feel. We're aiming to release the new Loader in the early part of next year and are looking for early beta testers. If you're interested in trying it out before the official release, then reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
