Shotgun maintenance policy

This document explains Shotgun’s policy regarding maintenance, releases, and other disruptive events.

Glossary

Non-disruptive maintenance. A maintenance operation during when the Shotgun service is still available (no downtime).

Disruptive maintenance. A maintenance operation that results in less than 5 minutes of downtime.

Highly disruptive maintenance. A maintenance operation that results in more than 5 minutes of downtime.

Emergency maintenance. A maintenance operation that must happen as soon as possible.

Maintenance announcements

All disruptive operations, and sometimes non-disruptive ones, are announced on our Status Page. Clients can subscribe to that status page to receive notifications about maintenance events.

Highly disruptive operations are also announced using a banner in the Shotgun web application.

Whenever possible, disruptive maintenance windows will be announced at least 24 hours in advance.

Maintenance windows

We make every effort to ensure this maintenance schedule:

Shotgun releases

Shotgun releases are rolled out on a per-site basis, throughout the maintenance window. The exact time at which a site will receive a new release is nondeterministic.
